Truestone Cotswold Slates
With the closure of many Cotswold quarries many decades ago, there has been a shortage of a suitable alternative and therefore a real demand for reclaimed Cotswold slates which has inflated the price dramatically. One solution to this was to produce an imitation or manufactured copy slate that gave a similar appearance to the original but in truth many of these are simply just a cheap and poor solution. Problems such as efflorescence and product breakdown due to freeze-thaw cycles have plagued manufacturing companies for years.
We began producing new natural stone slates back in 2008, starting with an alternative to traditional Yorkshire stone. A decade or so on, we have used all of our expertise and knowledge to produce a perfect solution to both Cotswold and Collyweston stone slates to become the UK’s largest supplier of natural stone roofing products.
Each slate is hand chiselled creating that traditional under-dressed tail and then tumbled to remove all the sharp tones on the slate. This is what gives the slates its time-worn appearance. Each slate is then pre-drilled, calibrated in thickness and sized to suit our comprehensive diminishing course batten plan which we provide with every roof. Installing calibrated stone slates to a predetermined batten plan saves huge amounts of time compared to using reclaimed slates.
The range consists of nine different heights and six different widths producing a truly outstanding and authentic result. All of our slates are fully tested and come complete with a lifetime guarantee meaning they won’t breakdown over multiple freeze-thaw cycles like manufactured products have been known to do, making them an exceptionally cost effective product.
We supply our stone slates in Sandstone Buff which offers that new look or Dyed Antique which blend perfectly with reclaimed stone slates. Free samples are available upon request. As this product line is new, we are offering some limited time offers and discounts. We are happy to site visit or work out your requirements from drawings which you can email to us.
