Vivara Pro Maternity Bat Box

Home/Bird and Bat Boxes/Vivara Pro Maternity Bat Box

This bat box has been designed in conjunction with wildlife experts and includes a single narrow cavity, making it ideal for crevice roosting bats. Every version of this maternity box will be used by various species depending on which occur locally, and includes the Common Pipistrelle, Brandt’s Bat, Nathusius’s Pipistrelle, Soprano Pipistrelle, and Whiskered Bat.

The box comes in Midi, Maxi, and Grand versions, which each have different dimensions and apertures. Each has three internal compartments and two entrances: one in the opening on the bottom of the box, and another via the access hole on the box’s reverse. The latter is accessed by means of a space formed between the mounting wall and rear of the box.

Bats require an increase in their body temperature before flying, so prefer warm roosting spots. This WoodStone box has a dark exterior designed to absorb heat from the sun.

Bats and their roosting sites are fully protected under both domestic and international legislation. This range of bat boxes has been created in partnership with a number of bat specialists to make sure every product is specifically suited to the needs of roosting bats or (in some products) hibernation or nursing spaces.

These bat boxes are perfect for use as part of an impact reduction strategy by developers, and also offer options for providing additional roosting habitats for bats in green spaces. The majority of these boxes are made using sustainable materials. In addition, no chemical additives are using during the production process.

The WoodStone used in many of these bat boxes has good thermal insulation properties, creating a more stable internal temperature. Its rough grained surface means bats will have the level of grip necessary to access the box, while its sturdy construction helps protect bats and other inhabitants from predators.
