The box has been designed in collaboration with a number of wildlife experts. It features two entrances with an integrated barrier, one at the front and one at the bottom. It will be used during summer and mild winter periods as a roosting spot, source of shelter, and a maternity box.
Bats need to raise their body temperature prior to flight and prefer warm roosting spots as a result. This bat box has a black exterior to absorb heat from the sun and raise the temperature of the interior.
Any range of species will us this box depending on location and local bat population, including the Common Noctule, Nathusius’s Pipistrelle, Soprano Pipistrelle, Brown Long Eared Bat, Common Dwarf Bat, Daubenton’s Bat, Pond Bat, and Lesser Noctule.
